About Me.
Huda Al-Aithan (b.1991) is a Saudi Arabian visual artist and designer. Al-Aithan’s creative work is reflected in utilitarian products and three-dimensional installations. As she strives for meaning in her art, she explores shape, color and light as ways of communication. She employs harmony, repetition, and organic shapes as instruments to communicate stories and create experiences. More recently, Al-Aithan has been investigating the notions of essence and identity across time through her practice.
Growing up, she was surrounded by ideas, tales, and customs from the past. In the colorful organic forms of her new works, Al-Aithan asks, “How can we conserve the beauty and soul of the past while reshaping it to adapt to the future?”
Al-Aithan’s work has been exhibited across Europe, the US, and the MENASA region, including at Misk Art Institute, Noor Riyadh, Art Dubai and Dubai Design Week. She earned her MA and MFA from the University of Iowa. Al-Aithan lives and works in Dubai, where she is an Assistant Professor of Digital Media at the American University.
